About Us
Pregnancy & Postpartum Support Minnesota (PPSM) began to take root in July 2006, when Suzanne Swanson, PhD, a St. Paul psychologist in private practice, became the Postpartum Support International (PSI) coordinator in Minnesota. Suzanne began by linking mothers, fathers and family members to local resources –- she offered support and encouragement and also provided the names of mental health practitioners, and suggested websites and books to educate about postpartum depression.

In early 2007, a group of perinatal mental health professionals began to meet to assess community needs. We began putting together The Minnesota Perinatal Mental Health Resource List – a booklet currently available at hospitals, clinics, childbirth education classes, through doula & midwifery practices.
Since then we have maintained a presence at local & national conferences, such as NAMI’s Beyond the Baby Blues and Postpartum Support International (PSI)’s annual conferences. Additionally, many of us are available to speak to parent and professional audiences on perinatal mental health issues.
